History

In 1926, the company was founded by plastics engineer Joseph Reiss in Germany. After the invention of polycarbonate (PC) in 1953, the first moisture-proof luminaire made from this material is launched. In 1999, REISS is taken over by the Austrian Zumtobel Group. The company’s presence in the international luminaire industry is continuously expanded. Today, REISS specializes in lighting and tailored lighting solutions for extreme applications. Headquartered in Friedrichshafen, REISS sells its products worldwide via a dedicated customer service. In 2017, the brand REISS was relaunched with a new positioning and design.
